Sr. Adult Trip to Santa’s Wonderland – Dec. 16, 2011

Come experience the wonder of Christmas! Join us on a trip to Santa’s Wonderland, A Texas Christmas Experience. Tour the sights and sounds of Santa’s Wonderland, featuring millions of dazzling Christmas lights seen on a winding path stretching over a mile long.

The bus will leave the church at 3 p.m. on December 16. We will eat a late lunch or early supper (whichever you wish it to be), drive through Santa’s Wonderland, and visit Santa Town. Plan to arrive home around 10 p.m. Cost is $15 per person plus the meal. Sign-up deadline is December 11. To sign-up, call the church office at 936-327-4417, fill out an info card and place in an offering/communication box, or use the sign-up sheet located at the info booth in the atrium.

A Night in Bethlehem – Dec. 3-5, 2011

First Baptist Church of Livingston presents their annual Christmas event, A Night in Bethlehem. Volunteers have been working diligently to transform the Trade Days pavilions at Pedigo Park into the little town of Bethlehem.

Each year more than 3,000 people enjoy special Christmas music by the FBC worship choir and delicious refreshments before stepping back in time to experience life during the time of Jesus’ birth.

Multi-generational shops line the streets, live animals roam the town, and Roman guards keep watch as guests make their way to the stable where they will experience a live nativity.

A Night in Bethlehem will be Dec. 3-5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pedigo Park Trade Days pavilions. Tours start every 15 minutes and is free for all ages.

The final details are coming together! All of the main structures are complete inside Bethlehem and the platforms for the choir and band are being set up. The next step will be decorating the shops! Back at the office there are banners being made (look for them around town!), programs being printed, and TONS of cookies are piling up to be served at Bethlehem! Below are a few more pictures of the progress being made.

Despite the gloomy weather, the little town of Bethlehem is beginning to take shape! The FBC staff along with helpful volunteers have been working diligently to transform the pavilions at Pedigo Park. Below are a few photos of what’s been accomplished so far. The Sr. Adults will be traveling to Hemphill, TX to visit the Remembering Columbia STS-107 exhibit at the Patricia Huffman Smith Museum. Cost is $10 per person. Sign-up at the info booth in the FBC atrium or call the church office to reserve your spot.

FSM Live: Q&A Series – Wednesday Nights @ 6:30pm

What happens when you have a question you can’t answer? Do you ignore it? Do you seek out the answer until you find it? All of us have questions. Some of your questions can clearly be answered. Other questions can never be answered. During the month of November, FSM is going to take on both types of questions. We believe that good questions inspire great learning even if we don’t arrive at conclusions. God welcomes our questions as long as we’re willing to follow His path for the answers. This series is going to be intense as we wrestle through some tough topics. Who knows? We may even get into some debate. Don’t check your brain at the door. This is going to be a good one!

Jesus asked 307 questions in the gospels. Jesus was asked 183 questions. Jesus only directly answered 3 questions. Yes, he only answered 3. Jesus is the Answer with all the questions! This series is going to purposely bring up topics that are not black and white. While this approach may create some uncomfortable situations, we believe this is a healthy way to not only ask good questions, but also how to handle people when you disagree or can’t come to a resolution.

We all have questions. We all don’t have answers. Hmmm…Join us in FSM for four intense nights of hot topics during our Q&A Series!

FSM: WEiRD Series – Sunday Mornings @ 9am

God wants us to live like Jesus. But the more like Jesus we become, the weirder we will get. If we really want to give our lives to God, then people are going to think we’re weird. The choices we make, the values we have, the way we spend our time and money, even the way we think and talk will be different from everyone else. We aren’t supposed to be like the world. We are called to be different—set apart, holy. Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we could go on living like everyone else. To be like Him we should be weird.

During this 4 week series the students of FSM will be challenged to be weird…because normal isn’t working.
