Orval Barger, Pastor Emeritus

Orval has been in ministry for 57 years. In that time, He has planted 4 new churches and pastored FBC for 16 years. After retiring in 1994, he served FBC for 2 years as Director of Education and 1 year as interim pastor, served 12 other churches as interim pastor, and worked part-time for the BMA of Texas as District Coordinator until February 2009. FBC elected him as Pastor Emeritus upon his retirement. He fully supports his pastor and staff.

Kevan Wood, Pastor of Worship & Administration

Kevan is known as the old guy on staff. He has had the privilege of serving the Lord at FBC since February 1979. He and his wife Mary Beth have been married for 33 years. They have 3 children and 4 wonderful grandsons.  Kevan has a passion to help the church reach this area for Christ and to help each of us become Worshippers of Him with our whole being. “First is a place that has allowed me to grow, find my purpose and is helping me become what God created me to be,” says Kevan.   Kevan leads the Celebrative Worship at 9:00am with a praise team and choir.

David Goddard, Pastor of Education & Outreach

David joined the staff of First in June 2008. He comes with 20+ years of ministry experience. His roles will include further development of Adult Bible Study Groups (Sunday School and Home Groups). He will help the First Family further reach the Lake Livingston area for Christ. David has a vision of being a part of this team to make an impact for Christ. He loves to see ways to improve the ministry to enhance peoples’ connection to Christ.

Billy Wiginton, Associate Pastor of Worship & Part-Time Student Pastor

Billy leads the Alternative Worship service @ 10:30am on Sundays. He is passionate about seeing people live lifestyles of worship that naturally overflow into a service setting. Billy was a part of FBC’s student ministry during his Jr. High and High School years. “I am privileged to serve the congregation that I have been involved in since my youth,” adds Billy.   “Also, I’m blessed to work with and learn from the amazing staff here.” Billy is married to Tasha and they have two beautiful children, Chandler and Noah.

Kayla Pitts, Director of Children’s Ministries

Kayla has served as a volunteer in the Children’s Ministries of First for the past 8 years. She joins the staff to help develop an agressive ministry to reach children and their families. She has a love for children and desire to partner with parents to help children grow in their faith and become followers of Christ.

Terry, Karissa, Cyndie & Sharon

Terry Arnold is the Secretary of Education/Financial here at First Baptist. She is married to Charles and they have two grown children, a beautiful granddaughter, and another grandchild on the way. Terry has been a member of First Baptist since 1981 and has been a secretary for First Baptist since 1997. Cyndie Schmidt is the Media/Publication Designer for First Baptist. Cyndie and her husband Andy have been married since 2007 and have a beautiful little girl. Sharon Cain is the Secretary of Reception/Administration. She and her husband Lloyd have been members since 1989. Sharon has been a secretary here since 2006.
